It was time for the two parents to go get an ultrasound. Gabrielle couldn’t wait to find out about the new life that was growing inside her. Lance was a little nervous. As with a lot of new fathers he was hoping for a baby boy. Although he was fine if the doctor said the baby was healthy of course. So they went along to the ultrasound appointment and they were thrilled as the baby looked healthy. Also, it was a boy! When they got back, they didn’t say much else about it though and life went on with them each focused more on their careers then each other in the food and fashion industries. The couple at this point was still interested in each other, but already there was something waning in their relationship and each felt the other start pulling away. Gabrielle was the one pulling away more and she knew that, but old habits are hard to break. She wasn’t one to stay in a relationship for long until she had started going with Lance. Gabrielle wasn’t used to being tied down so to speak at this early age in her young adult life. She wasn’t used to being committed but she didn’t want to break Lance’s heart. One the other hand, Lance had plenty of opportunities to also see other people if he wanted to. Especially one woman who keeps asking him out, Nina Caliente, who you may or may not have heard of before. However, both just focused on their careers and taking care of whatever Gabrielle needed for her pregnancy.

Then, one day, what felt like all of a sudden and a long time coming all at once, Gabrielle went into labor. Lance started to panic at first, but they were able to calm down long enough to call their OBGYN and have them meet them at the hospital. The OB greeted them and led them to a bed for Gabrielle to rest on until she was fully dilated. The doctor checked Gabrielle and how far along she was and realized she still had a while to go before the baby would come out. That meant there was time for an epidural and Gabrielle was thankful once that kicked in, and so was Lance, who was starting to get into a panic again. Gabrielle had to remind him to calm down and the doctor also reminded him everything was under control. Gabrielle was somewhat annoyed at this point, but she let it slide when the doctor seemed to calm Lance down. Lance looked down at Gabrielle and smiled sheepishly.

“We got this honey. I’m sorry I got a little crazy.”

“It’s okay Lance. Right now, things are a little crazy, but we’ll be all right like the doctor said.”

The OB suggested they take a walk to help reduce labor time so Gabrielle decided it would be safe enough to go alone and to give Lance some more time to calm down.

“It’s going to be a while yet, so I want to take a walk around the hospital alone, okay?”

“Okay, Gabby, if that’s what you want.” He nodded and for the time being Gabrielle went on her walk and Lance stepped outside himself for some fresh air and then went to the waiting area feeling a lot calmer.
