Chapter 3 – “To Stay or Not to Stay…”

Colten and Joelle had been dating for a while now. It had been pretty casual until Joelle moved in. Now there seemed to be a pressure to define their relationship by Colten’s family, and they didn’t know if they were ready to do that. Joelle was also a good friend of Colten’s sister Clarissa and Joelle wanted to move from her parents’ home so she moved in, but that didn’t mean she was ready for a serious relationship.

To get away from that feeling for the night, Colten and Joelle decided to go on a casual date for the night. They just wanted to be alone with no expectations or pressures from anybody.

The two headed to a nice club and lounge to chill for the night and enjoy each other. Colten thought he did want to get more serious with Joelle, but with the house being so full at the moment and his job there was little time or space for just the two of them. He wondered how Joelle felt about the situation but he was afraid to find out for some reason. He felt stuck with where they were and he wasn’t the emotional type unlike his twin brother.

As the night went on it felt more and more like a date and for the first time Colten felt that Joelle really was on the same wavelength as him. So he went for it and kissed her.

Both of them immediately felt a connection and knew this could be something. Colten was glad that he went for it but what they might do about their living situation is a different story unless Camden and Michelle move out at least or Clarissa and Salim and their child.

For now though Colten just wanted to be in the moment.

“I’ve wanted to do that for a while now but I just didn’t know how you felt.” Colten smiled and waited for the reassurance of the connection he had just felt with Joelle. Luckily Joelle did confirm the mutual attraction.

“That’s funny. ever since I moved in to your parents house, I started noticing you all the time and was glad I got to be close to you everyday and then I realized tonight that it was because I was attracted to you.” Joelle smiled back and leaned over for another kiss and they kissed and embraced for a while letting the moment linger.

Colten finally got up the courage to ask about the living situation. Joelle looked at Colten and shrugged her shoulders and pursed her lips until she decided what she wanted to say.

“Honestly I just moved in and I like all of your family and don’t mind living with that many people and we literally just started dating so I don’t feel the need to rush to get a new place or anything just in case this gets really serious. Of course I’d like to hear your thoughts on the situation too.”

“Well, that is a good point and honestly I’m not ready to move out either and I like having you there.”

“That settles it then. I will stay and we’ll just take it one day at a time.”

“Perfect.” Colten and Joelle went on with the night and had a great date.
