Kaylin’s Story CH 3

CHAPTER 3: “The Real Tea…Maybe?”

For the past few days Kaylin was struggling to know what to do and noticed that other than hanging with Penny at work she was avoiding her other friends and isolating herself. Often times when getting home after a long day at work the she would just curl up with a good book until she was ready for bed.

Okay, this is ridiculous Kaylin, she thought to herself one night while reading a book. Whatever is going on you need to face it or you will lose your friends like you are fearing that you might now and avoiding them because of it.

With a new determination to face her fears about what could happen if she confronted her friend Miko, she was able to get a peaceful night sleep for once in a few nights. The next week of work was really busy though so the plan to confront her friend would have to wait a while longer.

Finally about a week later work slowed down and it was a Friday night and Kaylin was definitely ready to go out for some fun and deal with things too. So they went out to a karaoke bar in the city to release some energy. Kaylin was having a lot of fun and wanted to wait to say anything. She did great at karaoke and for the next few hours the three friends, Miko, Akira, and Kaylin just had a good time. Things even felt less tense than they had been but Kaylin still wanted to talk with Miko later.

After a not so bad karaoke session and a drink, Kaylin was ready to confront Miko.

“Miko, can we talk?”

“Sure Kaylin.” The two stood next to their table just out of earshot of Akira and Kaylin started speaking.

“Miko have you been feeling something is different lately when we hang out or is it just me?”

Miko seemed to pause for a moment but then shrugged. “I don’t know if I am sure what you are trying to say. I thought everything seemed good. Why? Is something wrong?”

Now Kaylin started to doubt herself but remembered the pause from Miko before she answered. I know there is something. I wasn’t going to involve Akira but I may have to. I’ll pull him aside instead at a later time. Now if only I can figure a way out of this conversation gracefully.

Kaylin was able to finesse her way out by laughing it off and pretending that she was probably just making this up because of stress from her job. Miko seemed to buy that and that ended the conversation and let them, for that night anyway, just have a good time.

The next morning she started to practice the guitar that she had bought recently for a fun hobby so that she had other things to focus on besides work and her two friends’ issues that deep down was still there. Once started though Kaylin realized that she enjoyed playing music with her guitar more than she thought she would and so she practiced playing music for a long time since it was a Saturday and she didn’t have to go anywhere.
